Long Sleeves
I can see you in the corner,
with tear stains on your eyes.
And when I look into their depths
I find that you believe the lies.
I see the shadows beneath your lashes,
Proof of sleepless nights,
I see the way you clench your hands
Weary of endless fights.
I can see the shame,
Wrapped around you like a blanket,
And I see you smile,
And how you hate to fake it.
I see the way you hide your trembling lips
Behind the aromas of coffees brim
And how you close your eyes to breathe it,
but really to hide the pain within.
I see your hands are shaking
“You’ve just had to much caffeine,”
But I can see your heart breaking,
And how you’ve grown more lean.
I want to wrap you in my arms
To say, I know your not ok,
But how can I comfort you
If your too afraid to say;
I’m dying inside and all is black,
I want to be happy again.
I’ve got a past that I’ve hid away,
And I was scared and ran.
It comes alive at night,
And I don’t know how to cope;
So these sleeves I hold,
Hide lines that hold lost hope.
I say just one more time,
But where else can I turn;
I’m to afraid to speak,
So I choose to burn.
I’m to far gone for help,
I’ve done things I can’t erase.
And if you knew what I did,
You would never want to face;
This girl who built up lies,
To cover up her shame.
To look me in the eyes,
And call me by my name.
But I want to tell you,
Your can never run to far,
To exceed forgiveness
Your beautiful, you are.
Tell me what you’ve done
You need to let it out
I’ll hold you while you cry
And show you what love is about.
